Haircuts, a Lunchbox and Other Joys

Pepper is home for the long weekend and I was ever so glad to see her take out the clippers.  She let all the kids pick out their own hair do and they are a bit extreme -- but SO cute.  She did a great job.  Here are the "before," "during" and "afters" of Tink:

The pictures don't do it justice; it's adorable.

Here's the Blitz's new cut; he says we have to call him "Flash" now:

He's not so "Flash"y when he gets home from school. Kindergarten is leaving him completely shagged out.  The other day I went to Weight Watchers and when I got home at 6:30, this is how he was:

Daddy put him to bed and he didn't wake until 5:30 the next morning! Thankfully he'd been fed first!

Here is The Captain with his cool cut. I love his curls but he loves the shaved head.  At least Pepper convinced him to add a little decoration!

Finally, I did squeeze in time to make a new lunchbox from scraps I had around. I priced out new lunch boxes on Amazon and at Target and they are SO expensive!  It's lined in oilcloth and insulated. The total cost was $1 for the drawstring.  I love it because it's big enough for a bento box and a soda standing up.  I bought a book of lunchbox patterns on Kindle.  I'm working on another one now.    Pepper got inspired and made her own but I didn't get a picture and it's at SFA now.

Ballplayers, Beards, Bad Haircuts and Boyfriends: Photos from Feb

You tell me. Are these the two most adorable ball players ever?

We've got an Angel

And a White Sox

This little guy adores his big bro

Some sister shots:

And a poor choice haircut:

Daddy is growing his beard to prove to me that it will never get long no matter how many months he grows it. I think it is looking good!

And finally, the photo debut of Pepper's boyfriend. Hmmm. He needs a nickname. Guess we'll call him "Chef." He is a wonderful cook like Pepper and they met at the Caphalon Store. Isn't that romantic?

This photo looks staged but isn't. This is how
much she smiles around him all the time.
Okay. They caught me. It may have been the blinding flash.
This sweet guy brought her DINNER! Greatest boyfriend ever.

Kinder-Girl

Today's the day. Tinkerbelle starts Kindergarten and Meridian. She is elated. There are two things Tinker loves: 1) Learning, and (2) Structure.

Last night, just to be sure, she asked 5 or 6 times, "It's my first day of school tomorrow, right, Mom? Just me and nobody else, right? I'm going to learn reading and math and everything, right Mom? I eat lunch there, right?"

Pepper gave her a haircut and we laid out all her clothes. Then, just before bed, after I told her I'd see her on her first day of school, she said, "Okay, Mom, can you wake me up at 3:30 so I have plenty of time to get ready?"

I said "Yes" but opted for 6:30 instead.

Look out world, here she comes! She'll be running that school in a month.

Very Short Power of Observation Quiz

This very short quiz tests your powers of observation  (brought to you by "the Littles").

Can you see it?

Too subtle?  Let's try it on The Blitz:

Maybe another angle:

Alright.  Give up?
Let's try one far less subtle:

Oops.  Bet you see it now.
Good thing she looks cute with her bangs combed to the side!

The culprit:

Oh my.  Well guess our resident stylist will put those clippers away next time!

PS -- I'm keenly aware I've not posted The Blitz's birthday or Easter or Softball or Confirmation.  I will get there!  Too busy putting out fires (and covering up hair-don'ts!).

Assorted Sweetness

Just a little love-bug catch up here:

Pepper gave Tink's hair a tune-up:

Next . . . never serve beets with chicken to a toddler.  It looks scary.

And finally for your viewing pleasure, I bring you:  Ninja Tot!

(I'm sorry.  Blogspot hates me and I can't imbed the clip.  Just clink on the words "Ninja Tot."

Experimental Esthetician

I may have mentioned that a few months back, Pepper started cutting the Littles hair.  She thought she could do it and we had the tools, so I let her start with The Blitz, since The Captain had a school party the next day. She did great, so I let her move on.

We have been making tiny adjustments along the way and she works like a pro now.  Here's The Blitz.

And his brother:

She's good enough that Dear Hubby decided to let her give his hair a try!  I think she did awesome, what do you think?

Oh, and she trimmed Tinks' bangs, too.  Now that we know Tink has cowlicks, we're letting the top of her hair grow out so those big curls won't stand straight up all the time.

In thanks for all the money (and perhaps more importantly, time) she is saving me, I bought her a hot wax kit.  She has been waxing her eyebrows for some time with this cheesy kit we bought at the drugstore.  It's not really wax.  So I got her the whole shebang for less than the 3 haircuts would have cost.

We decided to let her try it out on my legs.  It hurt less that I thought it would and it was so worth it!  Sorry, no cheesecake photos here, folks.

Then she did her own brows.  Ever her mother's daughter, she decided to reuse some of the strips she had partially used ( to avoid waste) because that had worked on my legs.  She accidentally got a pea-sized glob of wax stuck to her eyebrow and pulled out a chunk she meant to save.  Oopsie!  I told her she could just draw it in and she did it so expertly you couldn't see the missing piece.

She had a good sense of humor about it and has given me permission to spill the beans to you!  So here's the photographic evidence!

And while we're at it, her only other mishap -- ever -- was this little bobble near The Blitz's ear.

But hey, since he moves around like a bobble-head the whole time, it could have happened to anyone! I actually don't know how she does it.

There you have it; she's handy in the kitchen, she's an artist, and now an experimental esthetician.  Astounding!
